Media Reflection

I spend most of my time on media.  During the weekdays I am on it less because I work from 8-5 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I work from 7-2:30.  On the weekends is when I use it the most.  I use it to do homework, check Facebook, check my emails, and personal use.  The time of the day when I use it the most is during the evenings because I work in the day and I have classes in the evening which requires the internet to use Elluminate Live.

The media that I use the most is my Samsung Galaxy 2 phone.  I have internet on there so I am on there most of the time when I am not at work or in class.  I use it to check my email, use the internet for shopping, check my blackboard, Facebook, look up random things on Google, and research for any papers that I have to do.  It is the one thing I rely on these days because it is mobile.  I can go on it from anywhere at anytime.  I don't have to go on a computer to access the internet, I can get it straight from my phone.

Living today, everyone has the need to have media in their life.   It has become a necessity for one person, company, and business.  Things get there faster through email and the internet has very reliable resources for anything you want.  I choose my phone over anything else because it holds everything.  I can text, call, and look at the internet all in one piece of media.  It is very easy for me to do anything on there.  I also listen to music on my phone, take pictures, and play phone games.  I guess it depends on your mood of what you want to use.  Something that makes you motivated to do something is the best way to get it done.  We can also look at the news on it, look at the weather, and videos.

Yes I tend to multitask while I am doing homework, researching, or on Facebook.  Right now I have four tabs on my internet web.  When the mood hits I check my Facebook, check my email, do homework, and also check my homework for the week.  I don't know why I do this, I guess it does really depend on one's mood.  We like to do our homework, but we also like to know what is happening in our friends or families lives.

I was surprised of how much I rely on media today.  I didn't realize how long I was spending time on it for all sorts of reasons.  I guess it has become a huge part of my life, rather than the village when we just rely on the TV and internet.

  1. Hey Anastasia! I think it's funny how my media usage and yours compare. We're almost 180 degrees different when it comes to when we use/access media the most. The work I do is strictly done on a computer and I do it from home. I have my office set up with multiple monitors so I can be running my work laptop on the left monitor, my personal desktop on the right one, and my older desktop on a third screen all at once. As you can imagine, I tend to do multiple things at once. However, on the weekend I usually end up doing much less work on computers and am usually outside or in my shop working on a project or a vehicle. So where you use media less during the weekdays and more on weekends, I'm the opposite.

  3. I didn't realize how much media I use on a daily basis (especially here in Bethel) until we were assigned to keep track of our media usage for 24 hours. OMGosh, that first day I felt like I was checking facebook all too often and texting when I could have been doing all these other things. :) Had we had to do this assignment while I was at home, my use of time and media would be so different. I work for the school, and here in Bethel I've got nothing better to do, so being here in Bethel has really taken it's toll on my media usage. :) I don't know what I would do had we not had internet, cell phones, and all the good stuff!

  4. I have the same phone you have. I find it addicting. :P I use it for basically the same reasons you do, email, facebook, google. I also feel you and I share the same "multi-tasking" habits. It's almost like I can do it all without thinking. I think you might be my long, lost sister. :) Thanks for sharing, also you write really well. Your blog was easy to follow and read.
